The energy behind it all
All our staff members are as valuable a part of Trimble’s as the plants we grow. We are fortunate to have a group of talented folks who can do it all, from identifying a plant or a pest to installing rock walls, walkways and fabulous gardens. You’ll find them knowledgeable, friendly, and always hard-working.
Anne E. Trimble
May 17, 1952 - December 27, 2022
In Memorium
Anne Trimble, 70, passed away at sunset on December 27th at her home. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Usually dressed in stripes and plaids and always topped with a quirky cap, Anne was not only a masterful horticultural wonder, but was also known for her huge heart.
She loved her wife, Nancy Leskody Trimble, her family, her friends, every aspect of nature, all manner of animals, and of course, her progressive politics.
Her messages on the environment and racial and social justice were everywhere; evident at the nursery on flags, banners and the sign out front. She lived what she believed.
Trimble’s of Corchaug Nursery, which she founded with Nancy in 1991, is a destination and an experience here on the North Fork. These four acres have become a beloved home for gardeners far and wide.
Anne and Nancy designed it as a botanical garden as well as a business, full of unusual plant material, planted bowling balls and old skis mounted on fences. The Idea Garden is itself a fitting memorial.
Anne was born in Rhode Island and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from the University of Rhode Island. Her extensive background in estate and urban horticulture includes a partnership in Geo Design Custom Gardens, restoration and landscape design of Tavern on the Green, and Assistant Director of Children’s Education at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Anne also directed the restoration of the gardens at the General Theological Seminary in Chelsea. She and Nancy have donated trees, shrubs, perennials and their expertise to beautify many public spaces on the North Fork.
Anne was the director of a successful landscape division that has redefined many small gardens and sprawling estates, utilizing organic practices and healthy plant material. These gardens will thrive and soothe over the decades. Anne E. Trimble has left us, but also left us with much to cherish.
Happy Celestial Gardening Anne.
Nancy Leskody Trimble
Proprietor & Director of Nursery Operations
Nancy is a Long Island native and a dedicated environmentalist who was formerly with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Nancy is the creative force behind the selection of plant material, growing practices, and the sales displays that make the nursery so unique.
She conducts many of the lectures and garden tours here at Trimble’s, as well as being responsible for the technological upgrades that keep the business moving forward efficiently. Nancy has completed the Agricultural Workforce Certification program at the State University of New York, Farmingdale.
Josselyn Gomez
Nursery Director
“I never thought I would work in the nursery business, however, I have grown to love it!” says Josselyn. “When I first started, the only flower I could identify was a simple red rose.” Now, she can’t only give you the botanical name for every plant on Trimble’s four-acre site but where it is, how many we have, the price and how to best take care of it.
Working under the nurturing hand of the Queen of Creativity, Anne E. Trimble, Josselyn has become accomplished in production skills, ordering plant material, foreseeing future needs, organization, and pricing. Sometimes she now knows what our clients want even before they do! She has been with Trimble’s for nine years and was briefly at Marders in Bridgehampton.
Josselyn has an Associates Degree from Suffolk County Community College in Business Administration and is working on her Bachelors in Accounting at St. Joseph’s University. She and her husband, Martin, have lived in Southold for nearly a decade.
A Salvadoran native, Josselyn migrated to California to be with her family in 2009. She hoped to accomplish what her grandmother desired for her when she said to a younger Josselyn, “I want you to have a better life. That is what your mother would have wanted for you.” Josselyn feels she has found her calling, has taken the reins of her life and with arduous work and discipline, she has pushed forward.
“I have a strong passion and determination that is unmatched despite my lack of experience,” she says. “Every season I gain valuable knowledge that motivates me to keep going. I am incredibly grateful to our growing team for having my back since the passing of our beloved Queen. Their assistance and encouragement has kept me going and allowed me to persevere.”
