Landscaping For Energy Efficiency

Questline had a really great post the other day about Energy Savings and Landscaping per PSEG.

Whether it's customers, visitors or employees, people like the beauty of trees when they walk up to your building. However, trees can also help you see the beauty of lower energy bills.

Planting leafy trees on the east, west and south sides of your building can provide cooling shade during warmer months, reducing your air conditioning costs. During colder months, the leaves fall off and allow the sun to provide a little extra warmth to help with heating costs.

Surrounding your building with evergreen trees, especially on the northwest side, can create a wind break that protects against cold winter winds. This will improve comfort in your buidling and in your parking lot.

Before you dig, think of where those trees will have the biggest impact. Remember to call 811 to make sure there are no underground utilities in the area.
